2019 — CITIZEN enters its second century.

As its name suggests, CITIZEN has always challenged the limits of the possible to make products that people love and that are useful to society. For a century now, the brand has devoted itself to pursuing the essence of time, philosophically as well as technologically. Whatever the era, CITIZEN deploys innovative technologies and techniques to craft watches that match our changing lifestyles.

To celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2018, CITIZEN unveiled the Caliber 0100 Eco-Drive movement featuring the world's most precise timekeeping accurate to within one second per year. At Baselworld 2019, CITIZEN is announcing several new models equipped with this movement. This is another milestone on CITIZEN's never-ending journey to take watch manufacturing to new, world-leading levels.

As technology goes through transformative change and people’s lifestyles become increasingly diverse, CITIZEN continues to challenge convention and explore new platforms to connect today’s citizens of the world. The recently unveiled “Riiiver” is an open IoT platform that connects people, things and services to enable the creation and sharing of new lifestyles free from normal time constraints. “Riiiver” is going to be exhibited at this year’s SXSW (South by Southwest), the world’s largest annual event for interactive media, music and film. The 2019 theme of CITIZEN’s booth, We Explore Time, expresses our passion for exploring new fields and expanding the whole concept of time.

At the Time Theater booth, all the major CITIZEN watch brands will be on display for visitors to see how we are exploring time and to understand our core philosophy of crafting timepieces for all the citizens of the world to enjoy.

Among the CITIZEN products on display at the booth will be MIYOTA, an iconic watch-movement brand that symbolises the appeal of CITIZEN as a true manufacture d’horlogerie.
