X8 (1966)
A Quest into the Unknown and the Endless Possibility
Japan's first electronic watch.
While the mechanical watches would soon stop if their mainsprings were not wound at this time, this battery-powered watch was a remarkable innovation that allowed watch to run through the year without winding.
The name X8 originated from X for the unknown and 8 for the infinity. After this model represented a quest into the unknown and the endless possibility, CITIZEN had developed innovative watches. This sophisticated design won Japan's Good Design Award in its time.
This model illustrates the challenge spirit of CITIZEN to develop a new era of the watch.
