CITIZEN ATTESA
Announcing the first-ever ATTESA ceramic bezel models
equipped with light-powered Eco-Drive Satellite Wave GPS*1
CITIZEN Watch is launching two new models from CITIZEN ATTESA, a line of watches equipped with the latest technologies. These new models feature a ceramic bezel - a first for the ATTESA line – along with Eco-Drive Satellite Wave GPS functionality.
CITIZEN ATTESA CC4104-53E
The watches have a stylish combination of contrasting materials – the octagonal ceramic bezel has a rugged brushed finish and the case is made of Super Titanium™*2. The uniquely shaped push buttons on the side of the case create a dynamic, distinctive look. For decades, CITIZEN has pushed the boundaries of titanium processing, and the company’s proprietary technologies are utilized in these new models to ensure that the top of the octagonal ceramic bezel fits snugly within the ridges of the case. The sleek integrated case and bracelet also creates a streamlined, appealing look. The black color of the dial was inspired by the deep black of unprocessed titanium, and gleaming metal rings around the three sub-dials provide stylish accents. The dial ring has a rough metallic texture that combines beautifully with the lustrous black dial to create a bold, modern look.
Both models are equipped with CITIZEN’s F950 movement, the ultimate movement for Eco-Drive Satellite Wave GPS watches. They are capable of receiving time signals in as little as 3 seconds – the fastest GPS satellite signal reception in the world*3 – and the hour and minute hands move rapidly to display local time. No matter where you are on planet Earth, these watches can rapidly receive time signals from satellites in orbit to ensure they always display the correct time. These watches are also equipped with Double Direct Flight*4 which allows the user to rapidly change the display to local time in 26 time zones in just two simple steps.
ATTESA is a titanium watch brand that represents the pinnacle of CITIZEN’s technological development.
2025 marks the 55th anniversary of the launch of CITIZEN’s world-first titanium watch and, over the decades, CITIZEN has worked to further refine and perfect its titanium processing technologies. These consistent leaps forward have led to the creation of Super Titanium™. Never content to rest on its laurels, CITIZEN continues its pursuit of beautiful designs and superior functionality.

- ※1 Eco-Drive is CITIZEN’s proprietary technology that powers watches using any natural or artificial light source, eliminating the need to replace batteries. Certified as an Eco Mark product for the first time in the watch industry. GPS satellite-synchronized watches receive date and time signals sent by GPS satellites from space — orbiting 20,000 kilometers above the Earth — bringing ultra-precise timekeeping to wherever you are on the face of the globe.
- ※2 Super Titanium™ is CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology used to treat solid titanium. It is at least 5 times harder than stainless steel, resistant to scratches, lightweight and gentle on the skin for a comfortable fit.
- ※3 Fastest satellite signal reception in the world for an analog light-powered GPS satellite wave watch. Figure from CITIZEN’s in-house research, as of September 2023.
- ※4 A world time function that can be adjusted by selecting the current city. It allows easy adjustment of time in 39 time zones with just a twist of the crown. Double Direct Flight allows the simultaneous display of times in two cities - home time and local time. These watches are also equipped with a dual time function that allows the user to switch these time displays with one simple step.
- ※5 Duratect is CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology that enhances the surface hardness of metals such as stainless steel and titanium, protecting watch bodies from scratches and damage. This technology offers excellent abrasion quality and maintains the luster of metals for long periods of time. Duratect Titanium Carbide has a silver color similar to pure titanium. Titanium carbide technology is commonly used for a range of applications, and CITIZEN’s Duratect Titanium Carbide produces Vickers hardness between 1,000 and 1,200 HV.
- ※6 Duratect DLC achieves Vickers hardness of 1,000-1,400 by creating an amorphous carbon hard film—mainly composed of carbon and hydrogen—on the surface of the material.
- ※7 Light-level Indicator detects and displays the intensity of light striking the dial (which generates the electricity to run the watch) in seven levels, allowing wearers to easily gauge the charge level in any given situation.
- ※8 The perpetual calendar is a fully automatic calendar control function that automatically adjusts the end of each month, including in leap years, until February 28, 2100.

A Brief History of CITIZEN Titanium Watches
1970 Launch of the world’s first titanium watch
X-8 Chronometer
With a case made from titanium, the X-8 Chronometer was launched as the world’s first titanium watch. The name X-8 also has a special meaning – X represents the unknown and 8 represents the infinity symbol (∞) to convey the endless possibilities of titanium.
1987 New technologies with a soft metallic glow
Launch of the first ATTESA model
The first-ever model released from the ATTESA line utilized the unique look of titanium. Due to the difficulty in polishing titanium to a mirror finish, most titanium watches at the time had a rough, matte finish and were designed for the outdoors. However, that changed thanks to a new processing technology developed by CITIZEN that gave the metal a soft metallic glow, resulting in an elegant titanium business watch.
2000 The Super Titanium™ era
ASPEC World Time
The first model to feature Super Titanium™ treated with Duratect, CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology.
2006 First model to use Duratect MRK+DLC double surface hardening technology
Promaster Eco-Drive radio-controlled watch
The first model to use Duratect MRK surface hardening technology along with an additional coating of Duratect DLC, applied using low-temperature plasma technology. Duratect MRK+DLC is resistant to both scratches and dents.
2016 Launch of the newly-developed Duratect Sakura pink
The gentle, delicate pink hue of Duratect Sakura Pink was inspired by the elegant pink color of clouds of cherry blossoms in springtime. Duratect Sakura pink was an immediate hit after its launch.
2018 Ultra-thin 3.53 mm model using Super Titanium™
Eco-Drive One
This model is equipped with the world’s thinnest light-powered Eco-Drive movement with a thickness of just 1.00 mm. Together with the Super Titanium™ case, the thickness of the watch is an incredible 3.53 mm. Despite being ultra-thin, Super Titanium™ provides all of the durability and robustness required for a watch.
2019 Duratect MRK in a new gold color
ATTESA
CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology, Duratect MRK, was launched in 1999. Twenty years later in 2019, a new gold color was added to the Duratect MRK line-up, opening up even more possibilities for innovative watch designs.
2020 Limited-edition model commemorating 50 years of titanium technology and innovation at CITIZEN
SATELLITE WAVE GPS F950
A special limited-edition model to commemorate 50 years of excellence in titanium processing at CITIZEN.
2022 New innovation with Recrystallized Titanium
ATTESA HAKUTO-R collaboration model
Titanium is heat treated at high temperatures and then cooled,
creating a non-uniform structure. This results in crystal-like formations on the surface of the metal, producing unique patterns just like unprocessed titanium ore found in nature. This unique material is used on the bezel and the middle links of the bracelet.
2022 Development of Duratect DLC Blue
ATTESA brand 35th anniversary limited-edition model
The first model using surface-hardening technology producing a unique
deep blue color while maintaining all the characteristics of Duratect DLC.
