CITIZEN watch, created as part of CITIZEN’s pursuit of the essence of the watch, provide both superior quality and outstanding accuracy. Two new limited-edition The CITIZEN models will be launched from the Iconic Nature Collection to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the brand. These new models feature a movement equipped with light-powered Eco-Drive*1, and high annual accuracy of ± 5 seconds. The delicate Tosa Washi paper on the dial evokes fleeting moments of beauty found in nature to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The CITIZEN.

The CITIZEN was established in 1995 as a collection of watches that integrate seamlessly with the lifestyle of the owner. 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the brand.
Two new models are being launched from the Iconic Nature Collection to honor this milestone. Both models speak to the living, breathing spirit of Japanese aesthetics that has endured for millennia. The concept of “okashi” appears in classical Japanese literature and is used to describe fleeting moments of beauty and joy in everyday life inspired by beautiful landscapes, the changing seasons, or anything that moves the soul. This idea is central to the way that Japanese people interpret the world around them as demonstrated by the concepts of nijimi (intentionally allowing ink to bleed into paper) and kasure (light, dry brush-strokes) which reflect the natural artistic effects of ink on paper. The washi paper dial with its natural textures and association with ink drawings and calligraphy, is the ideal material to convey these ideas.
The dial of the AQ4106-00A model is inspired by images of the early morning in spring. The paper, known as Unryushi, has long fibers that create unique swirling patterns, evoking fluffy white clouds floating in the sky soon after the break of dawn. The gentle white and pink hues express the colors of the sunrise and the subtle tones of cherry blossoms. The eye-catching case is finished with Duratect Sakura pink*2, the perfect color to herald the imminent arrival of spring. In contrast, the dial of the AQ4100-22L model imagines a summer night. The beauty of the moonlight reflected on the surface of a river is expressed using the distinctive Japan Blue color of indigo washi paper with its captivating ripples of color. The gold color of the second hand is reminiscent of gently glowing trails left by fireflies as they flit to and fro by the riverside, recalling memories of tranquil summer evenings.
Both models are equipped with a high-accuracy Eco-Drive movement with annual accuracy of ±5 seconds and the cases are made of lightweight, scratch resistant Super TitaniumTM*3. The crocodile leather straps are produced by a tanner certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG)*4. The eagle mark on the dial, crown, and case back symbolizes the twin ideals of The CITIZEN - foresight and dedication to the pursuit of ideals as well as the enduring connection between watch and wearer.
Product Features
■Movement with annual accuracy of ± 5 seconds and a perpetual calendar
These models are equipped with a high-accuracy light-powered Eco-Drive movement with annual accuracy of ± 5 seconds, eliminating the need for regular battery changes. All The CITIZEN models with high annual accuracy also feature a perpetual calendar that automatically adjusts the end of each month, including in leap years, until February 28, 2100. These models are also equipped with CITIZEN’s proprietary impact detection and lock function to protect the watch mechanism, an automatic hand correction function in the event that the hands deviate from the correct time, as well as a calendar that changes instantly at the stroke of midnight.
■Super Titanium™ case
CITIZEN’s proprietary Super TitaniumTM is the ideal material for wristwatches - it is lightweight (approx. 40% lighter than stainless steel) with superior hardness (approx. 5 times harder than stainless steel), as well as being corrosion resistant and gentle on the skin.
■Crocodile leather strap produced by a Leather Working Group (LWG)-certified tanner
The crocodile leather straps are produced by a tanner certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG) as part of CITIZEN’s efforts to produce sustainable watches.
■The eagle mark - the symbol of The CITIZEN
The dial, crown, and case back feature an eagle mark - the symbol of The CITIZEN. Eagles have incredible eyesight - they can clearly spot their prey from a distance of 1,000 meters or more. The eagle symbolizes foresight, the ability to anticipate the future and act accordingly. Eagles have also formed bonds with humans since ancient times. The eagle mark symbolizes the twin ideals of The CITIZEN - foresight and dedication to the pursuit of ideals as well as the enduring connection between watch and wearer.

- *1 Eco-Drive is CITIZEN’s proprietary technology that powers watches using any natural or artificial light source, eliminating the need to replace batteries. A first within the watch industry, Eco-Drive was certified as an Eco Mark product by the Japan Environment Association (JEA) and recognized for its contribution to environmental sustainability.
- *2 Duratect is CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology that enhances the surface hardness of metals such as stainless steel and titanium, protecting watch bodies from scratches and damage. This technology offers excellent abrasion quality and maintains the luster of metals for long periods of time.
DURATECT Sakura pink is a delicate, appealing shade that evokes the warmth of spring and gentle pink cherry blossoms against a pale blue sky. Duratect Sakura Pink is resistant to discoloration to maintain the beautiful pink color for longer. This technology achieves a high level of Vickers hardness from 1,100 to 1,500 HV.
Platinum is a soft precious metal with Vickers hardness of 50-100 HV. CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology boosts this figure to 1,000-1,200 Hv.
This treatment provides superior hardness as well as a bright, almost transparent, silver sheen to produce remarkably beautiful timepieces. (Vickers hardness of stainless steel is approx. 200 Hv). - *3 Super Titanium™ is CITIZEN’s proprietary technology to treat solid titanium with surface hardening technology. It is at least 5 times harder than stainless steel, resistant to scratches, lightweight and gentle to the skin for comfortable wearing.
- *4 Leather Working Group (LWG): An international organization including brands that sell leather products to consumers, manufacturers of leather (tanners), and suppliers of chemicals to the leather industry. LWG assesses the environmental performance and safety of leather manufacturing, and grants certification to tanneries that meet its strict standards. In April 2023, Citizen Watch became a member of the LWG organization.
