CITIZEN Watch is launching two new models from the CITIZEN ATTESA line of watches equipped with the latest technologies. Limited-edition Power of Green Flash and Power of Purple Aurora models are being released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Eco-Drive*1.

CITIZEN launched the world’s first light-powered analogue watch in 1976. Now known as Eco-Drive, this ground-breaking technology is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026. To commemorate this milestone, CITIZEN ATTESA is releasing two Eco-Drive 50th Anniversary Edition models.

These limited-edition models are inspired by green flash, a rare phenomenon that occurs when the sun disappears below the horizon, and purple aurora, an awe-inspiring light display that appears in the night sky in polar regions. Structural colour film and vapour deposition technologies are used to express these spectacular light shows created by interactions between the Sun and Earth.

Both models are equipped with CITIZEN’s F950 movement, the ultimate movement for light-powered Eco-Drive satellite wave GPS*2 watches. The movement is capable of receiving time signals in as little as 3 seconds – world-class speed for GPS satellite signal reception*3. No matter where you are in the world, this watch will always show the correct time. They are also equipped with Double Direct Flight*4 which allows the user to switch between local and overseas time displays with two simple steps.

■ Power of Green Flash (CC4084-83Z)

Green flash is an extremely rare phenomenon that occurs when the sun disappears below the horizon. This momentary flash of brilliant emerald green light was the inspiration for the design of this model.

Green structural colour film on the bottom layer of the dial that produces countless beautiful hues in response to light refracting and reflecting off the dial. The inkjet printed black layer on top of the film expresses the green flash as it gleams above the horizon for a few moments after the sun goes down.

The sapphire bezel ring is the first time that vapour deposition technology has been used to create a dark green colour on an ATTESA watch. Vapour deposition is applied to the lines radiating from the centre of the dial to express countless rays of green light spreading out toward the inner edge of the bezel, creating a unique and distinctive look.

The indices and the frame of the date window are finished in a stylish yellow gold colour that harmonises beautifully with the green colours on the dial. The bezel is finished with Duratect Amber Yellow.

■Power of Purple Aurora (CC4085-81Z)

Purple aurora is an extremely rare astronomical phenomenon that creates a breathtakingly beautiful purple colour in the night sky at low altitude. The breathtaking purple colour can be seen in the night sky in polar regions when particles from the Sun collide with the Earth’s atmosphere.

Raised printing on the black dial expresses shimmering light in the darkness of the night sky. The subdials feature structural colour film that changes colour depending on the angle of the light, producing purple and blue hues that mirror the beauty of the purple aurora.

The colours on the sapphire bezel ring that shift from purple to blue were created using vapour deposition, and the city names are finished with vapour deposition technology in an appealing pink gold colour. These design features allow the wearer to enjoy the combination of the shifting colours and the gleaming gold-coloured accents on the dial.

The indices and the frame of the date window are finished in a stylish pink gold colour that accents the purple hues on the dial. The bezel is finished with Duratect Pink.

• *7 Duratect amber yellow is a variety of Duratect that produces a soothing gold colour. It provides Vickers hardness of 1,700 to 2,300 HV, approx. 20 times harder than conventional gold plating.
• *8 Anti-reflective coating: A multi-layered coating applied to the glass. The coating reduces the reflection of light from the surface of the glass that makes the dial easier to see.
• *9 Light-level Indicator detects and displays the intensity of light striking the dial (which generates the electricity to run the watch) in seven levels, allowing wearers to easily gauge the charge level in any given situation.
• *10 Perpetual calendar is a fully automatic calendar control function that automatically adjusts the end of each month, including the months of a leap year, until February 28, 2100.
• *11 Duratect Pink uses real gold to produce an attractive pink-gold colour. Pure gold is an extremely soft metal with Vickers hardness of 20-70 HV and Duratect technology boosts this figure to 1,100-1,500 HV. It produces a bright, glossy finish with an attractive sheen. (Vickers hardness of stainless steel is approx. 200 Hv)
