ASIA PACIFIC MARINE DIRECTOR,
CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL
Schannel fell in love with marine science and field work while studying marine biology at the University of Auckland. After working as a researcher for a large fishing company and traveling the world, he returned to academia, always with a focus on hands-on conservation. In 2009, he joined Conservation International where he is involved in both local and regional environmental initiatives, scientific biodiversity survey projects, natural resource management projects, fund-raising, and partnership-building.
