Meaning of “yearly accuracy”
± 5-second yearly time accuracy
“Yearly accuracy” is an index of time precision of a watch. “Monthly accuracy” is often used for standard quartz watches.
This watch keeps ± 5-second yearly accuracy, that is, its time goes forward or backward within 5 seconds from correct time in a year. This means that the watch has much higher accuracy.
To make the watch keep such high accuracy, fulfilling the following conditions is required.
- Keeping temperature environment normal (+ 5 °C - +40 °C)
- Wearing the watch about 12 hours a day.
- Always keeping the watch charged (keeping the insufficient charge warning function deactivated)
Notes on “yearly accuracy”
It is not correct to convert yearly time accuracy into monthly or daily one as follows:
- Monthly accuracy must be 1/12 of ± 5 seconds since the watch keeps it in a year.
- Daily accuracy must be 1/365 of ± 5 seconds since the watch keeps it in a year.
It is possible that the time of the watch goes 2-second forward or backward from the correct one in 30 days and keeps ± 5-second yearly accuracy depending on conditions such as seasonal variation of temperature.
