Movement of a hand seems strange

Before starting troubleshooting

Check movement of the second hand.

  1. Push the crown in to position 0.
  2. Check movement of the second hand.
  3. !

When the second hand is moving once every two seconds, power reserve is nearly empty.
    Charge immediately.

Charge the watch previously if required.

Summer time and the standard time do not switch automatically.

Possible cause and condition

1.The watch has not received time signals successfully.
2. The setting for switching summer time and the standard time automatically is not activated.

Check the causes and conditions above one by one to resolve the problem.

1. Checking the time zone setting

For automatic switching between summer time and the standard time, the watch must receive time signals in a area where summer time is implemented.

Refer to the maps of summer-time-implemented areas below to see the locations of the signal stations and their approximate receivable areas.

Receivable area: within a 1500-km radius from the station

Receivable area: within a 1000-km radius from the station

  1. Pull the crown out to position 1.
  2. The second hand indicates the current time zone setting.

  3. Check the current time zone setting.
  4. Signal to receiveTime zone to setSecond hand position

    -743
    -645
    Germany (DCF77)00
    +13
  5. Rotate the crown to select a time zone where signal reception is available.
  6. Time indication is changed as you select a different time zone from the current one.

  7. Push the crown in to position 0 to finish the procedure.
  8. The watch returns to normal indication.

2. Receiving time signals manually

When receiving time signals, check the direction of the target signal station, remove the watch and place it on a stable surface where it can receive the signal better, such as next to a window.

  • When wire glass is used for the window, open it or change the reception place.
  • The reception antenna is located at the 8:00 position of the watch.
Place the watch with the 8:00 position facing toward the station.
  • Do not move the watch during time signal reception.
  1. Push the crown in to position 0.
  2. Press and hold the button for 2 seconds or more.
  3. The second hand indicates the result of the last signal reception.
After that, the second hand points to “RX” and signal reception starts.

  4. Put the watch in the place with good conditions for time signal reception.
  5. !

Do not move the watch as far as possible while the second hand points “RX”.

The watch returns to normal indication after the reception finished.

Did the watch receive time signals?

In environments where the watch cannot receive time signals, you must switch the summer time setting manually at every start and end of summer time.

Switching the summer time setting manually

  1. Pull the crown out to position 2.
  2. The second hand indicates the current summer time setting.

    Summer time
    SMT OFF
    Standard time
  3. As summer time comes, rotate the crown clockwise to switch the summer time setting to “SMT ON”;
As summer time goes, rotate the crown counterclockwise to switch the summer time setting to “SMT OFF”.
  4. Push the crown in to position 0 to finish the procedure.
  5. The watch returns to normal indication.

3. Checking the summer time setting

  1. Pull the crown out to position 2.
  2. The second hand indicates the current summer time setting.

    SMT ON
    Summer time
    SMT OFF
    Standard time

When the second hand points “SMT ON”, push the crown in to position 0 to finish the procedure.

  3. When it points “SMT OFF”, rotate the crown to clockwise to switch to “SMT ON”.
  4. Summer time and the standard time will be switched automatically.

    !

Doing this operation during non-summer-time period makes time indication summer time temporarily, but it returns to that of the standard time after receiving the standard time signal.

  5. Push the crown in to position 0 to finish the procedure.
  6. The watch returns to normal indication.
