Disclosing CO2 emissions and managing hazardous substances

We want our customers to enjoy their watches with complete peace of mind. Certain substances can be harmful to human health and the environment. At CITIZEN, we are honest about any hazardous substances in our products, and we are doing our best to reduce both them and any officially designated hazardous substances used in our manufacturing processes.

Greenhouse gases are the cause of global warming and extreme weather. At CITIZEN L, we calculate the total quantity of greenhouse gases released through our watches’ product lifecycle, from materials procurement through to disposal/recycling, and express that as a CO2 equivalent, which is listed in the model specifications.

We keep a stern eye on our own watchmaking practices and are rigorous about disclosure. Becoming more transparent is a key sustainability initiative.
