Eco-Drive with Annual Accuracy of ±1 Second / ±5 Seconds
Hand-dyed Indigo Paper Dial Model
A new frontier of accuracy and aesthetics
As part of our ongoing quest for beautiful dial design, The CITIZEN has released several models with dials of Japanese washi paper in recent years. Light-permeable and beautifully coloured and textured, as a material washi paper is wonderfully expressive. For our latest models, we have created a dial of washi paper hand-dyed with traditional indigo-dyeing techniques. The line-up consists of two models: the record-setting* Eco-Drive with Annual Accuracy of ±1 Second model, and the Eco-Drive with Annual Accuracy of ±1 Second model.
For a light-powered analogue quartz watch. As of February 2022, according to CITIZEN research.
Features
Exquisite ‘Japan Blue’ on your wrist
The official English name for indigo-dyed Japanese paper is ‘Japan Blue.’ The entire process of making it—from the cultivation of the indigo plants to the dyeing of the Tosa washi paper—is conducted in a workshop in Tokushima in Japan. The resulting dial is an all-natural product boasting a quite matchless depth and brilliance of colour.
